Sarah Jackson, Executive Editor, received her PhD in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her research on the function of a cullin-based ubiquitin ligase complex in cell cycle progression. Under the guidance of Dr. Yue Xiong, she uncovered a critical role for this complex in the development of T and B lymphocytes using conditional knockout mice. Dr. Jackson joined the JCI in 2012 and was one of the founding editors of JCI Insight in 2016. She provides operational management of the editorial board, handles manuscripts that present an institutional conflict interest for the editorial board, coordinates efforts between the JCI and JCI Insight, and oversees a team of professional editors in the development of Reviews and Commentaries for the JCI.
Corinne Williams, Senior Science Editor, earned her PhD in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined the editorial staff of the JCI in 2013 and was part of the editorial team that launched JCI Insight in 2016. Dr. Williams primarily provides operational support for the JCI Insight Editorial Board, including commissioning and editing journal frontmatter content, manuscript handing, and coordinating efforts with the JCI.
Elyse Dankoski, Science Editor, received her PhD in neurobiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying the monoaminergic neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine in neuropsychiatric disorders. She joined the JCI's editorial team in 2016 following postdoctoral training in neuropharmacology at the University of Washington. Dr. Dankoski currently handles Commentaries, Editor's Notes, and Viewpoint articles, working closely with the editorial board to identify topics of high interest to the JCI's readership.
Kathryn Claiborn, Science Editor, received her PhD in cell and molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she characterized the molecular function of a novel protein critical for the function of pancreatic β cells. She first joined the JCI in 2010, before working as a grant writer and scientific editor at the Harvard School of Public Health, Stanford University, and Gladstone Institutes. Dr. Claiborn was thrilled to rejoin the JCI editorial staff in 2025 and currently handles Reviews and Review Series for the Journal.
Lisa Conti, Social Media Manager, received her PhD in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a graduate student, she studied ion channel structure and protein trafficking in the laboratory of Carol Vandenberg, then went on to serve as a project scientist with the UC Santa Barbara Center for Stem Cell Biology and Engineering. In 2019, Dr. Conti joined the JCI as part of the editorial team and now leads social media and press communications for the JCI and JCI Insight.
