The hyperbolic law of glucose tolerance.
Insulin resistance (in the face...
Insulin resistance (in the face of, for example, obesity, pregnancy, or puberty) is represented by moving up and to the left on the curve (from position 1 to position 2). A higher position on the curve reflects enhanced insulin release from the pancreatic β cells. Improved insulin sensitivity (e.g., exercise) is represented by moving down and to the right on the curve, eliciting a lesser insulin response.
