The present studies are a part of the work of the Italian Medical Nutrition Mission, 1945-46. This Mission was sponsored by the Unitarian Service Committee, The Congregational Christian Service Committee and the Health Department of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration under the scientific co-directorship of Dr. Elmer L. Sevringhaus, Nutley, New Jersey, and Dr. Maurice B. Visscher, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
