Diabesity duo: insulin and adipocytes
Colored SEM of adipocytes. In this month's issue, we feature several articles on the main targets in diabetes and obesity: insulin and fat. Weisberg et al. show that the chemokine receptor CCR2 regulates macrophage recruitment to fat (page 115) while Powelka and colleagues show that the transcriptional corepressor RIP140 is a suppressor of adipocyte oxidative metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis (page 125). Dong et al. show that insulin receptor substrates Irs1 and Irs2 regulate hepatic glucose homeostasis (page 101).
