Abstract Background Barraquer-Simons syndrome (BSS) is a rare acquired lipodystrophy
characterized by gradually symmetric subcutaneous fat loss in a craniocaudal distribution,
associated with hypocomplementemia, diabetes and hypertriglyceridemia. Few investigators
