BACKGROUND: Protectin D1 (PD1) is an anti-inflammatory and proresolving lipid mediator
biosynthesized from the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Exogenous PD1
conferred protection against eosinophilic inflammation in animals with experimental asthma,
