Hyaluronan (HA) is an extremely large polysaccharide (glycosaminoglycan) involved in
many cellular functions. HA catabolism is thought to involve the initial cleavage of
extracellular high-molecular-weight (HMW) HA into intermediate-size HA by an extracellular
