Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent
ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery between January 2010 and December 2015 at our
institution. Shunt tubes and cerebrospinal fluid were sent for culture and sensitivity in
patients who were suspected clinically of having shunt tube infections. The processing of the
samples was done by standard techniques, and the identification of the organism along with
