Background & Aims The mechanisms by which hepatocyte exposure to alcohol activates
inflammatory cells such as macrophages in alcoholic liver disease (ALD) are unclear. The
role of released nano-sized membrane vesicles, termed extracellular vesicles (EV), in cell-to-
