A micromodification of the Drabkins cyanide method has been developed to measure
plasma hemoglobin in the range of 5 to 2000 mg/dl. With care the assay can be used above
and below this range. The assay is accurate, precise (CV< 1%), fast and simple when
compared to other procedures and has a stable end point. It can be applied to clinical
samples, stored blood, or hemoglobin solutions infused into test animals.
