Post-translational modifications of proteins and the domains that recognize these
modifications have central roles in creating a highly dynamic relay system that reads and
responds to alterations in the cellular microenvironment. Here we review the common
principles of post-translational modifications and their importance in signal integration
underlying epidermal growth factor receptor signaling and endocytosis, DNA-damage
responses and immunity.
Abstract
Post-translational modifications of proteins and the domains that recognize these modifications have central roles in creating a highly dynamic relay system that reads and responds to alterations in the cellular microenvironment. Here we review the common principles of post-translational modifications and their importance in signal integration underlying epidermal growth factor receptor signaling and endocytosis, DNA-damage responses and immunity.
