The preceding presentation is believed to be the first reported case of abscopal effect
observed in a patient with papillary adenocarcinoma. This observation indicates that even
when the histological nature of the tumour may suggest an unfavourable response, a trial of
irradiation may be rewarding. Poorly understood factors which influence the outcome, and
the sometimes unpredictable biological behaviour of certain tumours should be considered
