Two independent studies by Li et al.(2010) and Samavarchi-Tehrani et al.(2010) in this
issue of Cell Stem Cell suggest that a mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition is a critical
initiating event during the derivation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from
fibroblasts, indicating remarkable similarities between cellular reprogramming,
development, and cancer.
