The mycobacterial lipoglycans, lipomannan (LM) and lipoarabinomannan (LAM), are potent
immunomodulators in tuberculosis and leprosy. Little is known of their biosynthesis, other
than being based on phosphatidylinositol (PI), and they probably originate in the
