Unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) results in tubulointerstitial fibrosis of the affected kidney
by stimulating the renin-angiotensin system. This study established a UUO model in
angiotensin type 1a receptor (AT1a) deficient (mutant) mice to elucidate the role of
