Publisher Summary Recently, it has been found that in transplanted islets, the amount of
functional β-cell mass changes, dependent on demand, with changes in replication and/or
cell size. In a study described in this chapter, isolated islets were transplanted under the
kidney capsule of diabetic or control mice. There were three groups, the first two having
