In recent years, questions have been raised regarding the failure of some preclinical work to
translate to clinical benefit and the inability to reproduce some high-profile studies. While
myriad factors contribute to these problems, an important step in improving the integrity of
published work is for journals to enforce rigorous reporting of methods and results.
