Extra-neural glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) immunoreactivity in perisinusoidal stellate cells of rat liver

The dendritic processes and perinuclear cytoplasm of stellate-shaped perisinusoidal cells in
frozen sections of rat liver were specifically labeled with antisera raised independently to
glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the major component of intermediate filaments in
astrocytes. A liver protein co-migrating with authentic GFAP and immunoreactive with GFAP
