Enriched neonatal odor exposure leads to increased numbers of olfactory bulb mitral and granule cells

L Rosselli-Austin, J Williams - Developmental Brain Research, 1990 - Elsevier
Exposure of rat pups to a variety of airborne odors leads to a greater number of neurons in
the mitral and granule cell layers in the main and accessory olfactory bulbs. The results are
contrasted with studies on olfactory deprivation and possible mechanisms for the effects are
discussed.
