Chronic myeloproliferative diseases (CMPD) are clonal hematopoietic disorders1, 2, 19, 20,
28 that arise in a marrow stem cell and induce, at least at the initial phase of the disease, an
increased number of maturing cells of the granulocytic, erythroblastic, or megakaryocytic
lineages, resulting in an elevated number of terminal elements in the peripheral blood (PB).
CMPD share some clinical and laboratory features, such as splenomegaly,
