Publisher Summary Hepatic triglyceride lipase (HL; triacylglycerol kinase, EC 3.1. 1.3) is an
essential enzyme for the metabolism of intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL) and high-
density lipoproteins (HDL) in plasma. Overexpression of human HL, in transgenic rabbits,
decreases plasma total cholesterol by approximately 50%. In humans, HL deficiency results
in elevated plasma cholesterol and triglyceride, with increased concentrations of IDL and
